Negative Self-Talk and Stress

...Hey You Are a Useless JERK!

We are all masters of creating mental stress for ourselves. When someone calls you a "useless jerk", what would you think? How would you feel? What would you do? Now imagine this voice as your own voice and that you are thinking such thoughts about yourself.

Negative Self-Talk Creates Stress

"I want to start a business, but I am afraid that it will fail since only 2 out of 10 businesses succeed according to statistics."

"I want to go back to school, but I know I cannot study like I used to anymore."

"I want to be healthy, but I don't have time to do exercises."

"I want to find a beautiful wife, but I know I can't because I'm not handsome and attractive."

"I really want to get this job, but I know there must be many others who are better than me and are also applying for this job."

"I suck at everything I do..."

These kind of negative self-talk will create stress on your subconscious mind and often start negative snowball cycles on your self-confidence. These negative self-talks serve a purpose! If you are thinking about trying something new and you keep on telling yourself that "I can't do that!", you are most likely to listen and not give it a try. Your self-image becomes worse and worse. Eventually, you will end up living your life in fear, fear of failure and rejection.

It is difficult to follow your dreams and achieve your goals if you keep on beating yourself up over and over again with all these negative self-talks. Stop programming yourself with all these negative self-talks. Stop creating labels of denials for yourself. You need to change your thoughts or actions if you want to create a better self-image. Like the saying goes, "Keep doing what you are doing and you will keep getting what you have got!"
